The challenge

BS Handling, a warehousing, storage and conveyor solutions provider, is strategically investing in their maintenance  services to be able to offer existing and new customers a maintenance solution. To support their growth, they needed to appoint a new team to a newly contracted site near Birmingham. BS Handling required a knowledgeable, sector specialist partner to support their recruitment.

BS Handling needed to appoint a new team of 10 including;

• 1 Engineering Manager
• 2 Supervisors
• 7 Shift Engineers

The Journey

BS Handling met with three recruitment agencies with view to partner with one company to outsource all engineering recruitment for their new site. Proactive Technical Recruitment were appointed exclusive partner based on their past experience of new site launches and their sector specific knowledge of the automation and conveyor market.

✔  To begin the project, Proactive conducted interviews with engineering management, HR and the Managing Director to understand company culture and the ideal candidate profile. From here Proactive carried out an extensive marketing campaign to attract local talent,  and utilised existing talent pools curated over many years to identify suitable applicants for the roles.

✔ BS Handling were yet to create infrastructure to  support the recruitment campaign so enlisted Proactive to design and implement;

• Interview Structure including; provision of interview templates and support conducting interviews alongside hiring managers
• Offer Process including; offer letter creation and offer management
• Onboarding including; referencing of all candidates

The Outcome

• 49 CVs Submitted, 28 Interviews, 10 hires 
• 100% of vacancies filled 
• 8 Weeks for the full project life cycle to be completed; from Proactive’s appointment as recruitment partner to all new hires starting on site
