The Cell Development Engineer will support new cell development and qualification and will support related programs from the proposal stage all the way to the qualification. They will accomplish this by working with the electrochemical and mechanical engineering staff to accomplish design activities in an efficient and effective manner. They will provide support during the development and optimization of the manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
-Understand customers requirements and transfer them into the specification of new products
-Design and qualify prototype product following customers requirements. Support the development of new electrochemistry - materials, electrodes, and cells, in order to meet customers expectations, ensure manufacturability, acceptable cost, and meet life targets.
-Work with potential suppliers on new materials and alternatives for the existing materials
-Systematically evaluate and qualify new materials for potential use in new cell design
-Actively work with development and process engineers on new process development and new equipment evaluation
-Assist in failure analysis and continuous improvement. Perform characterizations, dive deep into root cause analysis and came up with solutions. Interface with vendors and customers, and constantly evaluate and implement new material/ process/equipment for better cost, safety, and efficiency.
-Properly document new materials and new practices
-Support patent applications
Requirements:
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, material science, physics, or similar
- Experience within Cell Development
- English proficiency, French proficiency is a strong plus
